The Buninyong Film Festival enjoys bringing highly acclaimed Australian and international films to the big screen to the historic village of Buninyong, and giving the community access to films that would not normally be seen outside of Melbourne.

ALL TICKETS $15 per session / $12.50 concession 

Tickets this year are individually priced to ensure we are able to count patrons to keep within the parameters of Covid restrictions.

COVID Contingency - If in the unfortunate case that the Film Festival should be cancelled due to government restrictions, all tickets will be refunded.

THE FURNACE

In 1897 Western Australia, an unlikely pair must outwit a zealous police sergeant & his troopers in a race to reach a secret furnace where they can safely reset the bars to remove the mark of the Crown. The film illuminates the forgotten history of Australia’s ‘Ghan' cameleers, predominantly Muslim & Sikh men from India, Afghanistan and Persia, who traversed the Nation's vast desert interior, thereby forming unique bonds with local Aboriginal people.

THE COUNTY

Set in a small Icelandic farming community, The County tells the story of Inga, a middle-aged dairy farmer who rebels against the all powerful local Cooperative. Inga tries to get other farmers to join her in rising up against the Co-op’s corruption, but encounters great resistance, forcing her to confront the community’s dependence and loyalty to this single, dominant enterprise.

SONG WITHOUT A NAME

Georgina is a heavily pregnant Andean peasant woman living in a bare wooden shack in a coastal shanty town close to the capital Lima. Lured into the city by a radio advert promising free medical assistance, she gives birth to her baby at a downtown clinic. The staff take her newborn daughter away but never return her.

DAVID BYRNE’S AMERICAN UTOPIA

David Byrne’s American Utopia brings the Talking Heads frontman’s critically acclaimed Broadway show to the big screen in a one-of-a-kind film directed by Oscar and Emmy-winner Spike Lee. Recorded during its late 2019 to early 2020 run, Byrne is joined by an ensemble of 11 musicians, singers, and dancers from around the globe, inviting audiences into a joyous dreamworld where human connection, self-evolution, and social justice are paramount.
